A stunning example of the marque in a highly desirable specification. Fully restored to world class standards, this authentic 1965 Jaguar E Type has been in the Kelynack family for the past three decades. Finished in traditional British Racing Green over a Biscuit Connolly Leather hide, the open two seater is complemented by a black mohair softop which folds down under a black fitted tonneau cover. The very rare detachable hard top is also finished in British Racing Green. Displaying New South Wales, Australia registration no. plates IEI246 which reflects the cars unique Chassis/Car No. IEI246.
Car no. 246 of a total 863 produced in the UK, this authentic right-hand drive 4.2 litre Series I was built in April 1965 and has recently undergone a full restoration to world class standards. Every element of this car has benefitted from expert attention ensuring a comprehensive restoration to original specifications. Believed to be the only SI 4.2 in Australia with a genuine factory detachable hardtop making this an extremely rare car. Externally identical to the earlier cars, the larger engine and more refined interior helped polish some of the rough edges off the 3.8 litre car and makes this one of the most desirable of all the E Types. These cars all had the prefix "IE" before their serial numbers however should not to be mistaken as the mysterious "Series 1.5" which doesn’t crop up until 1967. These cars fell within the SI 4.2 numbering scheme, but had many S2 features and today are considered their own separate run. IEI00I - IEI863: RHD Open Two Seaters (863).

The Jaguar E-Type was a sensation when introduced in 1961 and was to remain in production until 1974.

Beautiful to drive. Powered by her original 4.2 litre inline 6 cylinder engine and producing 265 bhp this car was capable of in excess of 130mph and was the fastest production car in Britain in the 60s. Also the “Moss” all-synchro gearbox was a very welcome upgrade in late 1964.
Every single nut, bolt and component has been either restored, rebuilt or if necessary replaced to original specification by world renowned specialists O&S Sports Car Restoration in Sydney. Back to bare metal, every element of this car has enjoyed expert attention to detail which ensures complete confidence in the vehicle. The ground-up restoration has been fully documented and photographed and can be made available upon request.
