Roger Wagner
Borambil Park served as the perfect backdrop for the first in a series of cutting mastery events aimed at challenging riders, trainers, and showmen and women alike in the Art of Mastering Cutting, under the expert guidance of Roger Wagner. The weather was picture perfect, creating a beautiful winter weekend filled with new learnings, insights, and perspectives, while fostering meaningful connections among great people.
This intensive 1½ day clinic provided a unique opportunity for 8 accomplished horsemen and women to delve deeply into the fundamental principles of horse training and working cattle. They developed and expanded the skills necessary to train soft, balanced, willing, and responsive horses, all while prioritizing the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. This clinic also offered a valuable chance to refine their cutting skills in a simulated show-like environment, working out of the herd.
Each rider was hand-selected to be part of this formidable group, allowing them to learn not only from one another but also from Roger Wagner himself. Being part of their own training cohort helped them establish a new foundation to build upon, moving them closer to their most ambitious goals. Each participant benefited from the diverse perspectives and insights that this unique cohort delivered. Roger facilitated the experience-based learning model with his unmatched professionalism, intensity, rigor, and rhythm, ensuring the event's success.
We eagerly anticipate the group reuniting on 1st & 2nd October 2022 to elevate their skills even further.

“The Teacher’s Teacher”
Roger Wagner is by far one of the most talented, humble, authentic, playful, and generous people you will ever meet. At the same time, he is one of the most highly acclaimed western riders in the world, taking the USA Cutting Industry by storm. Roger has crafted a place in history as one of the highest prize money earners in the USA, with over 3 decades of cutting mastery and an impressive competition record with numerous horses, far too many to list. He is now seen as the ‘go-to man' for all things cutting.
Legends in the cutting pen don’t come much bigger than this cowboy. Roger started riding and showing cutting horses at 11 years of age. At 16, he left school to work with fellow legend Graham Amos, focusing solely on horse training to learn from the best. Local success followed, and Roger turned Pro at the age of 21. In 2001, he left Australia for the big pens in the USA, and his career really took off!
The lifetime statistics of this cowboy are incredible. He has won in excess of $4,100,000 in cutting horse competitions, and in 2004, he was the world-wide top money earning trainer! His LTE in Australia stands at $707,569.60.
The resume of titles and achievements this cowboy has realized in his career is extensive. Here are the highlights:

Roger joined the NCHA in Australia in 1979 and was inducted into the Australian Riders Hall Of Fame in 1997, followed by his induction into the USA Riders Hall of Fame in 2005.
He has won an unprecedented back-to-back Open Gold Cup as well as back-to-back Non Pro Gold Cup. Roger returned to Australia with his wife Carolyn and their three sons, Clay, Jake, and Lane in 2013. Since his return, he hasn’t shown a horse but has devoted his time to mentoring and assisting both Non-Pros and Professional Cutting Horse Trainers around the country to enhance their horse training skills.
Needless to say, this makes Roger the perfect facilitator and instructor for “The Art of Mastering Cutting” series.
